As introduced in previous post of What Qi Men Dun Jia is? One of its modern applications is career forecasting and decision making. We can use this technique to help making an important decision in our career. Below is one of the cases that my students asked:
Question: I got a job offer with an increase of 10% from my current job salary. I need to provide my reply to the potential new employer in a week. Should i take up this offer and would the new job provide better career future as compared with my current ones?
In QMDJ forecasting, the time of asking the question, is used to come out a QMDJ Hour Chart, which is used to forecast what the outcome is. Figure 1 shows the plotted QMDJ Hour Chart based on the time of asking. To understand how to read this chart, please go to this link of “How to Read the QMDJ Hour Chart“
Figure 1: The plotted QMDJ Hour Chart based on the time of asking the question
Since the study of QMDJ forecasting is based on the stem of the time of asking. From the Figure 1, we can see from the table in the top shows the Year stem, Month stem, Day stem and Hour stem. The Day stem represents the asker, while the Hour stem represents the question and the outcome. The Day stem is BIng (丙) and the Hour stem is Ji (己) and both stems are located in the South palace. This represents the asker has already gotten the offer, and the offer comes with auspicious structure (Bing Rises 月昇 in red font in the South palace) and auspicious U9Heaven (九天) deity plus DRest door (休门), which represents quite a favourable job offer to the asker.
In terms of career future and compensation, we look for the DLife door (生门), which is located in Southwest or SW palace, comes with superior qualities (UGrandee 值符; Lead stem Xin 辛 and auspicious structures in red font, especially the Green Dragon 青龍 – the superior structure). These represent the job offer is indeed a good one.
We will then evaluate the current job situation, DOpen door (开门) represents the current job situation which can be located in Southeast or SE palace. At this QMDJ Hour Chart, the SE palace is unfortunately in the void or emptiness situation, which represents in-auspiciousness. In addition, SE palace comes with Gui (癸) stem in punishment (Gui Punish 癸刑), another negative indication.
For career forecasting, the Year stem represents the asker’s superior or management and Month stem represents the asker’s colleagues. Year stem is Wu (戊) while the Month stem is Yi (乙). The Wu stem is located in East palace which is also in punishment (Wu Punish 戊刑), plus the DFear door (驚门) which do not fair well to the asker. The Yi stem is located in Northeast or NE palace which is under controlled (Yi Control 乙制), plus the DDeath door (死门) which do not provide valuable support and teamwork.
Another important indicator of the 8 doors (八门), they are all in opposite locations respectively from the original locations, which is called “Fan Yin” situation. Fan Yin usually represent a change is required for the career forecasting.
Based on the above analysis, it’s advisable to the asker to take up the new offer.
